Murdo, SD to Newton, IA: 540 miles
Well we hit it hard today as you can see by our mileage. We are trying to make miles so that we can be back at Doug's house by Tuesday. Luckily the weather today was sunny and warm. By the late afternoon it got pretty darn hot.
We headed east and then turned south and left South Dakota behind us. As we entered Iowa, we had a very unwelcomed feeling. Every state that we have ridden through on this trip has had a "Welcome to..." sign greeting us. Iowa didn't' have a sign! They did have a welcome center though...we didn't stop.
Iowa is definitely corn country...we rode miles and miles with nothing to look at but corn...
Since we were on the bikes for so long today, we didn't have the opportunity to take many pictures. We decided to show you how Gumby and Pokie travel with us. As you can see in the picture, they both wear their seat belts:
When we stop they like to unbuckle and stretch their legs...
Tomorrow will be another high mileage day. We plan on finishing Iowa, crossing Illinois and Indiana and making it to the Sandusky, Ohio area. The weather might present some storms tomorrow...check in to see if we get wet.
